Mediterra's two big projects began on different timelines and will finish on different timelines too. Golf Course Industry reported on June 9, 2026, that South Course reconstruction had officially begun and that completion was anticipated in early November. The new Sports and Lifestyle Center finished vertical construction in August, and in the club's August 18 update phase one was still on track for summer 2027.
Members coming back for the 2026-27 season will find the golf project nearly finished and the building project roughly halfway through its schedule. The new places opening just outside the gates follow a similar pattern. A few opened over the summer and fall, one is aiming for November, and the largest one nearby is set for 2027.
The South Course is the project that finishes first
Golf Course Industry reported that the plan came out of an evaluation by the United States Golf Association and the Fazio Group, the original architects of Mediterra's courses. The South Florida USGA team looked at greens, turf health, cart paths and the trees and landscaping around them, with attention to the airflow and sunlight that affect turf through the year.
The scope that came out of that review covers:
- A complete renovation of all green complexes
- Reshaping of greenside and fairway bunkers
- Regrassing of fairways and rough
- Targeted turf treatments and selective landscape changes aimed at long-term playability
The project also keeps the club's Silver Audubon designation in view. Leibold Irrigation and Construction Company is doing the work.
By mid-August, the club reported that every hole on the South Course had gone through demolition, construction and resodding, including the greenside and fairway bunker work. That progress lines up with the early-November completion estimate. Construction completion is a separate milestone from the first tee time on new turf, though, and the club has published the first but not the second. Members planning their first round should check with the golf shop for the reopening date instead of assuming it from the construction schedule.
The building runs on a longer clock
The August update showed the Sports and Lifestyle Center at a typical midpoint. Roofing crews had finished the peel-and-stick underlayment, with tile installation expected within weeks. Inside, the work had moved on to plumbing, electrical, fire sprinklers and ductwork. New pavers across the site gave members their first sense of the finished project.
The team is BUILD for construction, David Corban Architects for design, HINT | Harris Interiors for interiors and LJA Engineering for landscape design. General manager and COO Carmen Mauceri, CCM, ECM, described the project in the club's release as "something that reflects who our members are today and where this community is headed."
With a summer 2027 target, phase one will open after this season ends. Members will spend one more winter with the existing facilities and an active construction site. The club currently offers nearly 60,000 square feet of dining, social and recreational space, including two Tom Fazio-designed championship courses, a full-service Sports Club, a spa, tennis, pickleball and bocce, and a Gulf-front Beach Club with indoor and al fresco dining, a pool and cabana service.
There's also a new person handling membership questions this season. In early October the club announced that Vessy Tyler is its new director of membership. She had previously spent nine years with the club.
The season on one calendar
The projects inside and outside the gates line up like this, from the ones already open to the ones furthest out:
| What | Where | Status as of late October 2026 | Expected timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Philly's Famous Cheesesteaks & Hoagies | Beach Road Plaza, Bonita Beach Road | Open | Opened summer 2026 |
| Sour & Dough Artisan Bakery | The Pavilion, 893 Vanderbilt Beach Road | Open | Opened September 2026 |
| La Pizzeria | Beside Mercato Italiano on U.S. 41 | Open | Opened September 2026 |
| South Course reconstruction | Inside Mediterra | Final stage | Construction completion expected early November |
| Voulez-Vous Naples | 11515 Bonita Beach Road SE | Preparing to open | Targeting November |
| Livingston Road intersection meeting | North Collier Regional Park | Scheduled | December 10, 2026 |
| Paragon Theaters at Mercato | Former Mercato cinema space | Lease signed | Early 2027 |
| Sports and Lifestyle Center, phase one | Inside Mediterra | Vertical construction complete | Summer 2027 |
| Veterans Memorial Parkway extension to U.S. 41 | North Naples | Planned | Construction expected to start 2028 |
The first three rows are already open. November has the two biggest near-term changes, the course and a new nightlife venue. After a single county meeting in December, everything else falls in 2027 or later.
November's other arrival sits at Bonita Beach Road and Imperial Parkway
The newest night out near Mediterra is going into a building many residents have driven past for years. Gulfshore Business reported that Voulez-Vous Naples is targeting a November opening in the former Southwest Florida Event Center, on the southeast corner of Bonita Beach Road and Imperial Parkway.
The concept combines Mediterranean-inspired cooking with live vocals, theatrical choreography, cabaret acts, aerialists and international DJs. Plans call for a main dining and performance room seating about 350 guests and a lounge for about 170. Owner Roy Dobrasinovic, a Naples resident, told Gulfshore Business the name is French for "Would you like?" and described the venue as a place to dress up and celebrate. He also plans to open a Voulez-Vous in Willowbrook, Illinois.
SWFL Blog's August coverage described the evening as a three-hour cabaret dinner show followed by a DJ-led nightlife experience. Dishes it listed include Wagyu carpaccio, lobster pappardelle, an A5 Wagyu tomahawk and Chilean sea bass. Pricing hadn't been published at the time. The operator's Naples page is the place to watch for an opening date and reservations. November is still a target, so it's worth confirming before planning a birthday or a visit from guests around it.
Readers in our French-speaking community may enjoy seeing a cabaret named in French opening a short drive from the gates. Bienvenue au quartier.
The daytime additions are already open
The smaller openings are already running. The Gulfshore Business hospitality desk reported that Sour & Dough Artisan Bakery opened in September at 893 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Unit 58, in The Pavilion. It serves French-style breads, pastries, sandwiches and coffee.
La Pizzeria also opened in September. It's a Neapolitan pizza offshoot of Mercato Italiano and sits right next to it on U.S. 41. On the Bonita Beach Road side, Philly's Famous Cheesesteaks & Hoagies opened this summer in Beach Road Plaza, according to Naples Press restaurant columnist Tim Aten.
All three opened during the slow months, so returning seasonal residents will meet them for the first time this fall.
What lands after the season
The largest leisure addition near Mediterra opens on roughly the same schedule as the Sports and Lifestyle Center. Gulfshore Business reported that Mercato has signed Paragon Theaters to take over its former cinema space. The new 11-screen theater will have dine-in service and upgraded screens, and it's expected to open in early 2027.
Road projects are on an even longer timeline. Collier County has scheduled a Livingston Road Intersection Improvement Project public information meeting for Thursday, December 10, 2026, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road. Further south, the county's project page for Pine Ridge Road and Livingston Road describes a proposed jughandle design that reached a 60% design meeting on June 18, 2026. It doesn't list a construction start date yet. Naples Press reported that the county expects construction on the Veterans Memorial Parkway extension to U.S. 41 to begin in 2028.
For this winter, members should expect a newly rebuilt South Course once the club announces the reopening, the current clubhouse facilities next to an active construction site, three new places to eat nearby and possibly a cabaret at Bonita Beach Road and Imperial Parkway. The new building and the new cinema are both on the calendar for 2027.
If the South Course reopening or the summer 2027 Sports and Lifestyle Center has you thinking about how Mediterra fits into your next few seasons, Sara Sells SWFL is happy to talk it through with you, in English or en français.
